Authorities Identify Son Who Jumped Off Cruise Ship in Front of Family
A video obtained by DailyMail showed Robbins splashing in the water near the boat before he vanished. According to a CLIA report, only 28.2% of passengers who fell overboard between 2009 and 2019 were successfully rescued. Nearly 400 people have gone overboard on major cruise lines between 2000 and 2020, according to the Washington Post. Parker jumped off the 18-story Liberty of the Seas after reportedly getting into an argument with his father. The 20-year-old passenger who jumped off a Royal Caribbean cruise last week after an argument with his dad has been identified as a former high school football player and avid hunter living in Florida. He went on to explain that his son is a skilled diver who works on fishing boats.

Experts have told Fox News Digital there is a vast array of marine life, including dolphins, tiger sharks and bull sharks in those waters that feed off the scraps from the boats. I’d like to know how my son was served so much alcohol,” the elder Parker told the outlet. The drinking age on a Royal Caribbean cruise departing from the US is 21.

He had been drinking and had just gotten into an argument with his father, witnesses said. Another clip shows him fighting with a fish on his line as it darts under the boat before it cuts to Parker taking a dip in the sea. “Nobody is saying 23 percent of hotel client deaths are from falling off balconies,” he said. Sunday's memorial service will begin at 4 p.m., with visitation hours between 2 and 4 p.m. U-High baseball coach Justin Morgan issued a statement following the tragedy.
Father of 20-year-old who jumped from cruise ship says he believes son is still alive
After a man jumped off a cruise ship into the Bahama Ocean, his father has said he believes he is still alive in the sea. A cruise turned into a nightmare for people aboard Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas when a young man jumped overboard shortly after 4 a.m. According to a witness, crews made multiple unsuccessful attempts to locate Robbins as the boat, resembling a pirate ship, stayed in the area for several hours. A video has surfaced showing boat passengers in the Bahamas moments after an 18-year-old Louisiana star baseball player jumped off the ship in response to a dare, resulting in a fatal outcome. Footage has surfaced showing 18-year-old Cameron Robbins -- who'd just graduated high school in Baton Rouge -- swimming in the open seas at night near Athol Island last week ... Where he was on a sunset cruise with a bunch of his peers celebrating their achievement.
Vacation horror as ‘drunk’ son, 20, jumps from Royal Caribbean cruise in front of family
Witnesses said he appeared drunk and was fighting with his dad, according to reports. That is until he vanished behind the boat and out of view of everyone, who began screaming at him to grab a life preserver that'd been thrown to him -- which was pretty far away, and he didn't end up reaching it. Robbins disappeared three days after his graduation from University Laboratory School. A chaotic video taken moments after the jump also shows the recent graduate ignoring onlookers’ pleas to grab a buoy. “Haunting, but you can see the exact moment the shark gets him,” one Twitter user wrote alongside a screenshot of Robbins and the shadow just inches apart. On his way there, he noticed the two brothers and their dad, Francel Parker, coming out of the sliding doors near the elevators.

Cameron Robbins, 18, graduated from University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge in May and was on a trip to the Bahamas with students from several local high schools. The Blackbeard’s Revenge, which is designed to resemble a pirate ship, remained in the area for several hours while the crew attempted to look for Robbins. As many cases are often deadly, many cruise lines have installed surveillance cameras and employed additional safety measures to help reduce risk. The release of his identity comes shortly after the Coast Guard called off its search for Parker. "Our policies strictly prohibit guests under the age of 21 from being served alcohol onboard."
Many people were grateful for the explainer, saying it should be played to passengers when turbulence happens
Defenders of the industry often characterize cruise ships as a microcosm of a city, with the same problems that come up on land. A 35-year-old Australian man who fell overboard on his way back to Brisbane. A 7-year-old boy who died after falling into the ocean, followed by his mother, who tried to save him.
The TikTok video was posted by Parker’s friend, Kaleb Felty, on March 27 and shows Parker beaming on a boat off Florida and splashing around in the shallows. Kevin George, the director of the school, told local news outlet WBRZ that Robbins was a "special kid." Authorities officially designated Robbins as "lost at sea," which is the same as a death certificate, and a memorial service for Robbins will be held Sunday at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
In another video he dubbed a “typical Levion moment,” Parker feeds pelicans a fish out of his hands from a boat. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Robbins Family during this incredibly difficult time. Out of respect for the Robbins family’s privacy, we feel it’s inappropriate to comment on the details surrounding the night of the incident. The video appears to show a shadowy object in the water move toward the recent high school grad, who was swimming toward a life preserver before changing direction. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said many of the students were part of a close-knit community that was in shock, disbelief, exhausted and cold as the U.S. Coast Guard, Royal Bahamas Defence Force and United Cajun Navy searched the waters until about 3 a.m. Parker said his son had alcohol on the ship but jumping off the ship was not a suicide attempt, the Sun reported.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office identified Parker on Wednesday, the New York Post and Daily Mail reported, just a day after the Coast Guard officially called off their search for the previously unidentified man. Florida deputies did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation from The Daily Beast. In 2023, about 31 million passengers traveled on a cruise, and at least 10 people went overboard, with two of them surviving, Business Insider reported. “The early morning was definitely somber as so many people came out of their cabins to stare at the sea, hoping to be able to aid in finding the person,” said Amy Phelps Fouse, a passenger on the ship.
Sims told the Post that after leaving the hot tub, they encountered the passenger's father while approaching the elevators. The party ship remained in the area for several hours while the crew looked for Robbins. Robbins was last seen splashing in the dark, “shark-infested” waters a few feet from the boat, before vanishing from view. According to witnesses, the teen — who was apparently acting on a dare — took a plunge off a party cruise into the ocean near Athol Island at night.
Francel Parker said that his son, Levion Parker, had multiple flotation devices thrown down to him on April 4 when he leaped over the side of the royal Caribbean ship “Liberty of the Seas” as family members watched in horror. Social media accounts for Parker showed that he was an outdoorsman who’d won a fishing tournament just weeks prior to his fatal leap. Posts showed he played football for North Port High School, in southwest Florida, and graduated from there in 2022, reported the Daily Mail. Sims told the Post that Parker “appeared drunk,” and he spotted him arguing with his dad over the supposed drinking. Moments later, he said Parker leaped into the sea without a trace from an area that housed whirlpools and hot tubs.
"None of the experts consulted can definitely say what's in the video due to the quality and length of the video," Trascher said. "The Robbins family has requested that we not entertain that theory any longer, so our official position is that we don't know what happened while Cam was in the water." This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. The ship was on its way to Fort Lauderdale after four days of sailing between Cuba and the Bahamas’ Grand Inagua Island. Loved ones reportedly witnessed Parker jump off the 11th deck of the Liberty of the Seas cruise liner in what appeared to be an “impulsive leap,” the Post reported last week, citing a witness. The Liberty of the Seas departed from South Florida and was 57 miles from Great Inagua in The Bahamas when the passenger went overboard.
